The questions people ask me most often before booking, with clear answers. If yours isn't here, write to me.
Booking and prices
How do I book?
Message me on WhatsApp at +39 370 104 3440, give me a call or send me an email at info@discoveringetnawithedy.com. I'll reply myself.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the excursion, the number of people and the time of year. Write to me and I'll send you a quote.
Where do we meet?
At Piazzale Funivia dell'Etna, the Etna cable car station on the south side (Etna South, Nicolosi).
What language?
Italian, English and a little French.
Do you do private tours?
Yes, for couples, families and groups. They cost more than a group excursion: I'll tell you straight away in the quote.
Quad
Can you ride the quad to the top?
No. The quad is ridden in the woods on the south side. To reach 3,000 and 3,400 m, you go up on foot.
Do I need experience to ride it?
No: before setting off you'll get all the instructions you need to ride it with confidence.
Is the quad safe? Can it tip over?
It's an off-road activity and it needs your attention. Before setting off you'll get all the instructions and the gear: helmet, hygiene cap, windproof jacket and gloves.
Is fuel extra?
No, it's included.
What do I need to bring?
Long trousers and closed-toe shoes.
Can I do it at sunset?
Yes, on request, when the season allows. Ask me for dates.
Trekking and craters
Is the trek difficult?
It depends on your fitness and the conditions on the day. Tell me your age and how active you are, and I'll let you know if it's right for you.
Can I go on my own?
Yes, but only up to a certain altitude. Higher up, you can only go accompanied.
Is the gear included?
Yes: helmet, shoes, socks, trekking poles and a small backpack.
What's not included?
The cable car ticket, and for the summit craters lunch as well. Bring long trousers.
When can you go to the summit craters?
Usually from June to August, with some exceptions, and only if the weather and volcanic activity allow it.
Weather and the volcano
Will we see lava?
Rarely, and only if safety conditions allow it. I can't promise it: it depends on the conditions on the day.
Will it be cold?
It depends on the day and the altitude. It's best to dress in layers, even in summer.
Will it rain? At what time?
We can't know that: it depends on the forecast, which is the only source. In the mountains the weather can change from one moment to the next.
What happens if there's bad weather or volcanic activity?
If the conditions aren't right, we don't go. Everything is decided on the spot, on the day.
Age and health
What's the minimum age?
Quad from age 6, trekking from age 8. If you're over 65, let's talk first, based on your physical condition.
Who can't go up to high altitude?
Anyone with heart or breathing problems, such as asthma: we don't take them up, for their own safety.
Can't find your question?
Message me on WhatsApp or send me an email: I'll reply personally.

Before you go
Weather and volcanic activity decide whether we go up and how far, and the choice is made on the spot, on the day. High-altitude excursions are not suitable for anyone with heart or breathing problems.
